Investment Strategy

Calvert BioCapital will invest in Portfolio Companies that will acquire rights to early stage pharmaceutical compounds and further develop them using a capital efficient drug development business model to increase their value prior to exit.

The pharmaceutical development program for each Portfolio Company will be implemented by Calvert Development Corporation, a management consulting firm owned by the Fund and directly managed by the General Partner. Calvert Development will provide contract pharmaceutical development and financial management services to each Portfolio Company to rapidly and efficiently advance their licensed compounds from the preclinical stage into early human clinical trials.

Calvert Development will also assist each Portfolio Company in contracting with third party pharmaceutical development service providers to execute specific elements of their drug development program, such as drug manufacturing, preclinical animal testing, human clinical trials, regulatory affairs, and other development program needs as required.
